Where Do I Fly Into?

There are two options:
Managua, Nicaragua (MGA) 75 miles and 2-3hr Taxi ride to El Gigante

Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) 90 miles and 3-4hr taxi from airport to El Gigante. 50 miles from airport to Penas Blancas (Border) and 40 miles from the border to El Gigante.

Managua is the better option.

Liberia is another option if flight times or prices are not accommodating for your travel plans.

How do I get from the airport to Gigante?

We offer several transportation options. Simply let us know the date and time of your arrival and we will have a ride arranged for you to Gigante.

Is there an ATM at the hotel or in Gigante?

No, there is an ATM 20 minutes outside of town you can use if needed. We suggest using the ATM at the airport or bringing a couple hundred dollars cash with you.

What is the weather like?

It is warm tropical weather usually ranging from 75-90F. The ocean breeze makes it very comfortable being outside.

Are there other activities to do?

Yes, there are hikes, hot springs, water falls, horseback riding, and golf. All can be pre-arranged prior to your arrival in Nicaragua.

Do I need to have local currency?

No, USD is accepted everywhere.

Can I use my debit/credit cards?

Cards work most of the time but not all the time. VISA cards are the most widely accepted. Cash is preferred.

How many people can come on a fishing trip?

Four is the ideal number of guests. On calm days or trips close to shore we can take up to six guests.

Do I need fishing experience?

No, all levels of experience are encouraged to come out and enjoy their time on the water.

Is there safety equipment on the boat?

Yes, Life jackets, Emergency Positioning Indicating Radio Beacon(EPIRB), VHF Radio, Satellite phone, GPS, First Aid Kit, fire extinguisher, and Spot Trace GPS tracking. Unlike in the States, cell phone service remains good several miles offshore.

Do I need to bring my own fishing gear and tackle?
No, we have everything you could ever need. But if you would like to bring some of your own “lucky” lures or equiptment feel free to bring them along.
Am I responsible for broken or lost gear?
In some situations, yes. If you’re misusing our gear and break it you are responsible to replace it.
How far are the fishing grounds?

We fish anywhere from right off the beach to 30 miles offshore depending on customers desires and weather conditions.

Do I need a fishing license?
No fishing license is required for recreational sport fishing in Nicaragua.
Is the tip included?
No, 20% is suggested and greatly appreciated.

Can I do laundry?
Yes Room to Roam offers laundry services that usually cost $3-$6 depending on the amount of clothes.

Is the hotel secure?

Yes there is security at the hotel 24/7.

Can I pay for my room with a debit/credit card?

Yes you can pay with any kind of VISA card. Other cards do not always work.

Is there maid service?

Yes

Is there AC?
There are very good A/C units in every room, guests can control each room to their desired temperature.
Is there hot water?

Yes
