Our Captains

I’m Christian Funk, a Winter Park, Florida native. My passion for the outdoors began when I was 6, I received my first fishing rod, surfboard,and a Sears 10′ jon boat. From that moment, I was hooked. As my passion for fishing and adventure grew, the toys did too, larger boats, bigger fish, and an expanding collection of surfboards.

During my time at the University of Florida, I met Nick, and our shared love for fishing, surfing, and the outdoors quickly forged a deep friendship. In the summer of 2017, I landed an internship at Giant’s Foot Surf Resort in southern Nicaragua. Since then, I’ve spent four seasons exploring the waters of southern Nicaragua, northern Costa Rica, and the inland rivers and estuaries.

After Nick joined me in 2017, we hatched a plan to launch our own guiding operation, with a focus on fishing. Recognizing the immense potential of the tropical southern Pacific fishery and its inland waterways, we set out to create something special. Now, six years later, we’re living that dream. Throughout this journey, I’ve had the privilege of fishing alongside experienced anglers, captains, mates, and friends. Along the way, I acquired my USCG captain’s license, dive license, as well as CPR and first aid certificates, solidifying my commitment to safety and expertise in the field.

Captain Nick Urbano has been operating fishing charters since 2019. Raised on the coast of Central Florida, I’ve immersed myself in a life centered around the water. Growing up in Florida provided abundant opportunities to be in and around the water, whether navigating the shallow flats of the Mosquito Lagoon, venturing offshore, or exploring the depths of the Everglades. My lifelong dream has been to run fishing charters in vast, untamed water, and Nicaragua proved to be the perfect destination with its raw and wild beauty.
